Ever since the Roe v. Wade court case in 1973, America has been plagued with a subtle violence, which, although not receiving large amounts of news attention, has claimed the lives of over 58 million Americans in 45 years. This crime, the murder of children by their own mothers, is commonly known as abortion. Widely accepted as it is, many have taken a stand against this practice, and with good reason. I am pro-life because I believe in the value of every person and because of the violence and anger caused by abortion. With history as proof, it is easy to see the negative influences of abortion in individuals, families, and nations, and recognize them as ill omens. My first and foremost reason for being pro-life is the fact that an unborn baby is undoubtedly alive, unique, and human, that all humans have a right to life, and that God has a special plan for each and every person He has created. One simply cannot argue that unborn babies are not truly alive or human, because they meet the qualifications of living organisms and have individual human DNA. What should be argued is that every single human being, old or young, born or unborn, has the right to live and be treated with respect. It is necessary that we rise up to protect the unborn. Abortion, if left unchecked, brings disaster and violence with it wherever it goes. If men and women are allowed to think that they can simply “dispose of ” an unwanted child, all sense of individual responsibility vanishes and human beings are taught it is acceptable to kill the innocent to live as they would like. Abortion disrupts and destroys family life, and since people from dysfunctional families are likely to start similar families themselves, abortion causes a devastating a chain reaction that destroys families and has the power to break down society. Women who have abortions are affected emotionally for years afterward. Abortion also presents a violent example for those stand by: as it becomes socially acceptable, so will other crimes. Currently, unborn babies are killed, but it will not take long for the world to move on to others too. Mother Teresa forewarned us: “We must not be surprised when we hear of murders, of killings, of wars, of hatred. If a mother can kill her own child, what is left but for us to kill each other?” Because of the violence and disunity caused by abortion, I look on it not with acceptance but with dislike and sadness. Those of us who see that abortion is wrong must stand together to end it, teaching others love, patience, and trust in God’s incredible plan. I am pro-life because the love and joy life bring severely contrast the anger and disorder brought by abortion. Each human being is an invaluable part of society, and they all deserve the right to life. Abortion: Bad For Everyone The population of the United States should be over 380 million people. As it is, the population is about 325 million. The reason for the discrepancy is abortion, a legal holocaust and the number one killer in the nation. Since 1973, the abortion industry has killed 55 million people, and they continue their horrific work to this day. Many think of abortion as a good option for dealing with hardships and unwanted pregnancies, but the reality is that abortion causes more harm than it could ever forestall. Abortion harms individuals, families, and society. Abortion is bad for everyone. Abortion is harmful to individuals both physically and emotionally. Science tells that a baby is a separate human being from the moment of conception. Besides killing millions of helpless babies, abortion procedures can endanger the health of mothers. Many abortion procedures cause health complications later in life such as bleeding, infection, and difficult future pregnancies. Many women have been killed while undergoing an abortion, and many are torn apart psychologically for years after an abortion. Pro-Life marches contain many women who have had abortions and now live to regret them. Abortions for mothers who are pregnant because of a tragedy such as rape cause a second tragedy: the killing of their child. Many people think abortion is often done for medical reasons, but the reality is that about 93% of all abortions are done for elective, non-medical reasons. The individual effects of abortion are not limited to the victims, however. Doctors who work in abortion facilities are taught that their Hippocratic oath to ‘do no harm’ does not matter. These doctors are paid well to maim and kill in the name of healthcare, not save lives as they should. The abortion industry gives individuals power over the life and death of a helpless being without the danger of being punished for killing Abortion harms the families of mothers who have had abortions. Any time a family member dies, it negatively affects the whole family, and abortions are no different. Because abortions are legal, spouses can push for abortions that are unwanted by the mother. On the other hand, mothers can abort the children that their husbands want to raise. Abortion also allows couples to willingly and legally take the gift of new life out of marriage. Children are extraordinary blessings for couples, but abortion allows couples to take them out of the marriage scenario. Abortion also affects the already born children in families. These accepted children are introduced to the harsh fact that they could have been killed just as easily. Combined, these factors can tear apart families. Finally, the practice of abortion is extremely harmful to society. Abortion can encourage a lack of responsibility for the actions of young men and women and make them accustomed for living only for themselves. Because abortion accustoms people to the everyday killing of humans, it inadvertently teaches that human life is of little value. If human life is indeed so worthless, assisted suicide, human experimentation, murder crimes, and war all become permissible. Recommendations by doctors to abort children with disabilities teaches inequality and prejudice. Abortions also harm many of the races living in the United States. Margaret Sanger, the founder of Planned Parenthood, had a goal to get rid of minority races in the U.S. This is why most abortion facilities are placed in minority neighborhoods. Mothers who are poor or parts of minorities often turn to abortion, but killing their babies does nothing to salvage their situations. No matter what the circumstance, abortion is never the answer. No single person, group, or people can ever benefit from this mass killing. Just because it’s legal does not mean it’s okay; everything Hitler did in Nazi Germany was legal as well. Abortion hurts individuals, destroys families, and degrades society. Abortion is bad for everyone.

AuthorMy name is Grace, and I am a advocate for life and God. Hitler killed over 6 million people during WWII. The truth about abortion procedures: 10 Reasons abortion is never the answer: An unborn child is always innocent and should never be punished. Some people believe that ending a child’s life will solve their problems. But in reality, abortion only hides problems: it doesn’t solve them. By the time most abortions can be performed, the baby already has a beating heart (heartbeat begins 18 days after conception) and identifiable brain waves (brain waves begin 6 weeks after conception). We don't cure illness by killing the patient. Aborting a child with a disability or illness is the height of prejudice. |
